So I went into the city centre today and walked around quite a bit. I had forgotten that it was Sunday and most of the shops were closed. I walked down towards St. Cuthbert's church today and walked through a really old graveyard. I went to the Starbucks again and wrote articles for about 3 hours. When I was finished I walked past the National Museum and saw that there was an enormous gathering of people and one really long line! So I went to go check it out to see what the heck was going on. Apparently there is a new Spain exhibit at the museum and there was a festival going on called "A Taste of Spain". There was this enormous cooking bowl and this man had a HUGE spoon that he was using to stir the chicken and rice. I swear, this bowl could have easily served a thousand people or more! They were handing out free bowls of the rice and let me tell you, it was awesome! On top of tasting good it was free, you can't beat that! I can't wait 'til the big festivals begin, there's no telling what will happen at those. I came very close to climbing Arthur's Seat today since it was so nice out. It was sunny and about 65 degrees all day long. There were spurts of rain here and there, but not much. I will most likely go hiking tomorrow (depends on the weather). I updated the slideshow with new photos. Not all of the photos are there because it takes so darn long to upload them into Picassa. Enjoy the new pictures everyone!

I forgot to tell you that you look like a shiftless character and that's why you got booted and now you are getting free food too? Once you bandage up those blisters you'll be all Oliver Twist!!!
Hey Dan,
I finally signed onto your blog and got caught up with your "adventures" since you arrived. WOW! A lot has happened to you in a few short days. I hope things continue to get better. I was a bit amused, and had to laugh out loud when you said you envisioned yourself living in the park. (Sorry...) Yes, I think you should invest in a bike too! I'd give anything for your weather right now. I'll keep you in prayer. Sounds like you need all the help you can get!
Linda (Joe, Daisy & Amos) :O)
Yeah, I almost walked up to the guy serving the food and said, "Please, sir, I want some more". That would have been true Oliver Twist there. Blisters are not painful anymore and will be hiking Arthur's Seat today. Everything is great now, no problems as of yet...
Dan. I quote from the Patriot, "Stay the course!!!" You will be just fine. Jesus always seems to open windows when doors close. All these experiences will shape you into the wonderful DVM (or what ever the title in Scottland is) and surgeon you are destined to be. This is teaching you patience, an attribute that all good surgeons must have. Cheers.
Dr. Bill
You know Bill, I woke up this morning thinking the same thing. I thought, "You know, there is a reason that all of this is happening. God is preparing me for what my future holds", and that is being a DVM and surgeon. I have definitely learned to keep my cool in all of these situations. I just stay positive and move on to the solution. It does not help to stress or become angry, THAT is what makes those situations worse. Surgery can definitely be like that, and you have shown me true patience in surgery with some of the complications that we have encountered in the past. Oh, and it is called a BVM&S in Scotland, but is the same thing as a DVM.
I thought you said he throws things.... :)
